More about your pass

What is mytravelpass?

mytravelpass is the proof of age identity that you will need to obtain discounted Young Persons' Bus Travel in Wales if you are aged 16 to 21. More details at mytravelpass.tfw.wales/apply

I already have a mytravelpass?

If you are aged between 16 and 21 and already have a mytravelpass you are ready to benefit from the new Young Persons' Bus Travel Scheme and do not need to do anything further.

Who can apply for a mytravelpass?

Anyone aged between 16 – 21 can apply for a mytravelpass irrespective of where you live in the UK if you plan to use bus services in Wales regularly. Your pass will be valid until your twenty-second birthday.

mytravelpass cannot be sent to addresses outside of the UK. If you are an overseas student coming to study in Wales, you should provide an address in the UK to which your pass can be posted and from which you can collect it. Contact your university or college to see what arrangements they have.

Only the person to whom the card is registered to and whose photograph appears on the card can use mytravelpass. If anyone else attempts to use the card, then this will be considered as fraud, and the card will be cancelled.

How can I apply for a mytravelpass?

Following the announcement of the new scheme we are updating our systems and online applications will be available from the 21st of July at mytravelpass.tfw.wales/apply

What proof do I need to apply for a mytravelpass?

To apply, everyone needs to produce:

  • a recent colour, passport sized photo of themselves alone.
  • the postcode and address of their main residence (if you are non-UK resident studying in Wales, this should be your term time address and location to which the mytravelpass can be posted).

You will also need to provide your date of birth. You may need to provide additional evidence of your age if requested, but this is only the case if our own internal checks are unable to validate it. Acceptable evidence of age is as follows:

  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • Birth Certificate

The details you provide on your application will be confirmed by third parties on behalf of Welsh Government to check your identity and that the information given is correct. See the privacy statement for more information.

In the event of false information being used you will not be issued with a card and risk prosecution.

When will I receive mytravelpass?

Applications normally take approximately 6 weeks to be processed but may be slightly longer at busy times such as the start of term. If you have waited longer than this, then please contact us on 0300 200 22 33

When can I apply for mytravelpass?

You can apply for mytravelpass 10 days before your 16th birthday (or anytime between your 16th and 22nd birthday).

Your mytravelpass will expire on your 22nd birthday and your card will not be valid after the date printed on the card.

How much does a mytravelpass cost?

mytravelpass is free and neither Transport for Wales and Welsh Government will ever ask for payment or payment details as part of the application process.

What if I lose my mytravelpass?

If you are 16 to 21 and cannot present your mytravelpass to the driver when boarding the bus, you will be asked to pay the full adult fare for that journey.

Replacement passes can be obtained by contacting us on 0300 200 22 33

What if I no longer look like the photo on mytravelpass?

Let us know and send us a new photo by email with your existing mytravelpass details, including the card number. We will then re-issue your card using the new photograph.

Can mytravelpass be cancelled?

Your mytravelpass can be cancelled if you provided incorrect information on your application form or misuse your card. If there is evidence that you have been rude or aggressive to another passenger or a driver it is likely that your pass will be cancelled, and you could be banned from the operators’ services or even prosecuted.

How much does it cost to call mytravelpass on 0300 200 22 33?

Calls to mytravelpass are charged at local rate and included in any free call bundles you may have on your mobile phone or landline contract.
